Rob
Wilkinson started playing the electronic organ from the age of 9 and studied
with the Yamaha school of music until the age of 15, after which he began
studying classical piano. It wasn't too long after that
he became hooked on the amazing art of jazz improvisation having heard Oscar
Peterson play on the radio.
Rob's knowledge of chords learnt from his days studying as an organist provided
a solid foundation to translate this knowledge into a jazz context. He has been
playing with Triad for a number of years and has built up a repertoire of many
popular jazz tunes from the Great American song books.
He has been playing piano for over 20 years and has recently achieved an A.V.C.M. Performer's diploma in classical piano.
